About Me

"The most beautiful things in life cannot be seen or even touched; they must be felt with the heart"
Helen Keller

I studied Counselling Psychology at Trinity College Dublin and qualified as a Counselling Psychologist in 2007. I gained Chartership in 2012 with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am HPC Registered (Health Professions Council). Also, I am an Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist with British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I practice within the ethical framework of these bodies.

I work in the health service and private practice. I am also on the register of supervisors for University of Ulster. I have experience working with both children and adults, also people with Learning Disabilities, Aspergers and Personality Disorders.

My specialism is with regards to self-harm and also addictions, both drug and alcohol. I believe that many people, who present with addictions, are using these as ‘coping mechanisms’ for underlying problems, such as depression, abuse, stress, etc. Therefore, I take a ‘dual approach’, which means working with the addiction and also the underlying issues.

I have the following qualifications:-

BSc Hons (Psy) – Open University
MSc Counselling Psychologist – Trinity College Dublin
Chartered Status with BPS
Register for Occupational Testing Level A with BPS
Accredited Counselling with BACP
Post Grad Dip – Counselling Child & Adolescents
Professional Certificate in CBT for Addictions
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Full Training
Certificate in Critical Incident Stress Management (individual and groups)
Certificate - ‘Introduction to Personality Disorders’, University of Lancaster.
Accredited supervisor for Psychological Wellbeing Practioners
