Better Mental Health

What I Offer

I offer one to one therapy and also clinical supervision at a charge of £50 per 50 minute session.

Therapy is a very personal journey, which can be both difficult and rewarding. I believe that given the right therapeutic conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence, helps the individual to explore their current diffiuclties. Clients are assessed with regards to their individual needs and what they want from therapy.

Sessions last for 50 minutes. The number of sessions depends on the individuals. I recommend 6 sessions and then review from there.

I deliever the following therapies:-

Person Centered Therapy -
Person Centered therapy is based on the principle that people have a tendancy to move toward growth and healing, and have the capacity to find their own answers. This is aided by the counsellor, who provides an environment which is accepting, understanding and empathatic.

Psychodynamic -
This approach stresses the importance of the unconscious and past experiences in shaping current behaviour. The client is encouraged to talk about childhood relationships with parents and other significant people and the therapist focuses on the client/therapist relationship (the dynamics) and in particular on the transference.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) -
This combines Cognitive and Behavioural techniques. Clients are taught ways to change thoughts and expectations and relaxation techniques are used. CBT can be used for stress, anxiety, obsessions, phobias, obsessions and eating disorders .

Gestalt -
Focus of therapy is on the present rather than in the past. The therapist does not interpret experiences for the client. Both client and counsellor work together to help the client understand him/herself.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) -
This is a form of psychotherapy which was developed to resolve symptoms resulting from disturbing and unresolved life experiences. The theory is that EMDR works directly with memory networks, enhancing information processing by creating associations between the distressing memory and more adaptive information in other memory networks.
